William Bowie 1960's Kinetic sculpture with shimmering gold and silver leaf accent
Bowie opened the Sculpture Studio in New York in 1972. It was from there he created works for the best design shops of the day as well as several large business commissions including an 88 foot impression of the New York City skyline for New York Bank For Savings. His sculptures are in many private collections and Museums throughout the U.S. and the World. From a 1963 newspaper article on Bowie:
William Bowie was born in Youngstown, Ohio, February 15, 1926. He attended
Bethany College and Youngstown University. He has spent the last five years in New
York, designing and developing Metal Sculpture. His work is available through his own
galleries located''at 202 East 77th Street and 342 East 56th Street in New York and are
open to the public six days a week.
Mr. Bowie has achieved great success and recognition from his work with commissions
from the Playboy Club, New Orleans, La., Temple Beth 'El, St. Petersburg, Fla.,
Hotel San Juan, Puerto Rico. The Center Club in Baltimore.
