The A. House C. Jere collection utensils gourmet group was indeed so popular that A. House is still making them 30 years later...except for this one! The bottle opener was discontinued years ago and is the most difficult of the group to find. As a fellow Jere fan, I know you'll enjoy reading the email that I received from the famous A. House C. Jere designer BJ Keith's daughter the last time we offered a Jere Can Opener:
"Hi! Just a quick note as I happened on this item when browsing: Indeed, this IS a rare piece. It was my Mother's very first piece for A. House and the first of the kitchen utensil collection. She is quite famous in the metal sculpture field now. Her work has been in Architectural Digest, American Bungalow (article "An Artists Bungalow") as well as in too numerous to count exec offices on television. She actually learned to weld on this piece! I just thought you'd like to know this little bit of of trivia on this piece! I wish that I could afford this piece just for nostalgia and heritage sake. You brought a smile to my face seeing this."."
Note; further communication with the author revealed that her Mom is B.J. Keith, A. House's gifted and prolific head designer from 1980 until she retired last year. Mentored by Jerry Fells, Ms. Keith started with A. House in 1975. Her kitchen utensil designs were her ticket in. Added to the C. Jere line shortly thereafter, the kitchen utensils are the longest running design in A. House history
